I am a female combat veteran, and I spent two joyous years in Iraq, Baghdad.  My sole purpose was to spread democracy, as well as, love, peace, and comfort to those families who cried out for  help. It was a very difficult mission to accomplish because it seemed as though many Iraqi people were in need of assistance. However, I did what I could because I would expect nothing less if I were in such a predicament. Most Americans are not aware of other countries, and their struggles to survive. We are fixed on wanting and needing things for ourselves, and we always want more of things we really do not need. Before my deployment to Iraq, I was one of them. I never realized all the good I had, and I wanted things just because everyone in society had them. Now, I accept what little I have, and I thank God each and every night for the wonderful life he has blessed me with. 
    However,  my brother Andrew and his family have been going through extremely rough terrain. Andrew was considered disabled by the  state of New York, and he was taken off medical insurance. Therefore, he is unable to get the treatment that he needs so that he may continue to live life as the lord intended. He has tried everything he can to get insured but nothing seems to work. How is it that a natural born AMERICAN can not get the medical attention he needs? Also, his wife Amanda was diagnosed with cancer, and their son has been sick on a daily basis. I have done my best to try and raise money for them, but I can't seem to raise enough to help them. It hurts me to know that the one I love and admire the most, needs my help, and I can't give him what he needs. This is my final attempt to call out for help. Please, someone help me help someone in desparate need. Be someone's angel.

I am writing on behalf of my brother Andrew and his family. For the past few years, his family has encountered nothing but hardships. It seems like the harder they work the more in debt they become. Just recently Andrew was diagnosed with bone marrow disease, and unfortunately, his insurance cut him completely off from aid. Also, the state of New York considers him diasabled, which makes it very difficult for Andrew to apply for aide, as well as jobs. In fact, Andrew racked up  very pricy hospital bills because he had to go to the emergency countless times dues to pain, black outs, and severe fevers. Not to mention the cost of prescription drugs. No one should have to live life this way, especially not since aid is readily available in the U.S. Furthermore, Andrew had no choice but to file for bankruptcy due to his inability to work or perform tasks for money. Months after the completion of the bankruptcy, his wife Amanda was diagnosed with cancer( Leukemia), and his son, only four years old, has been very ill. I do not know what to do. I have tried almost everything that I could to try and raise money for my brother and his family. I even went to the extent and wrote Oprah a letter in hopes that she would feel my pain and answer me.  Of course, nothing seemed to work. I do not want my brother and his family to continue life collecting unpaid hospital bills. This should not be happening in America. I served in the armed forces for three years, protected my country and the people. All I pray and ask for, is that the government returns the favor and helps bring hope back into my brother and his families lives. Please, tell me what I should do or what I can do.
